Institute Alterna is proud to announce the second iteration of the Alterna Artificial Intelligence Model United Nations, in collaboration with the Futures Summit Alliance.
AAIMUN 2026 will take place online on 25 and 26 July 2026, welcoming both first-time and experienced delegates to a free, global Model United Nations conference centred on the defining questions of artificial intelligence.
Building on the success of AAIMUN’s first edition, this year’s conference brings delegates into a sharper, more ambitious programme: across two days of debate, negotiation, crisis response, and resolution writing, participants will examine how AI is reshaping economies, institutions, human rights, security, and the future of international cooperation.
The conference will open the second season of UNx, the Futures Summit Alliance’s youth ecosystem for Model United Nations, speech, debate, and leadership development. Through the partnership, AAIMUN 2026 delegates will earn UNx points for participation and awards, joining a wider network of students taking part in conferences and opportunities throughout the season.
AAIMUN 2026 will feature four core committees. The General Assembly will invite delegates to shape global approaches to the safe development and deployment of AI. The Economic and Social Council will examine AI’s effects on labour markets, productivity, development, and economic opportunity. The Human Rights Council will focus on policies that protect human dignity and fundamental rights in an age of increasingly capable systems. The Security Council will challenge delegates to confront the risks of AI in conflict, national security, and the emergence of technologies that could alter the balance of peace.
Each committee has been designed to be accessible to new delegates whilst still offering depth and challenge for experienced participants. Beginners will find a structured path into Model United Nations, supported by clear committee framing and a welcoming online format. Seasoned delegates will find complex topics, fast-moving debate, and difficult trade-offs that reward preparation, diplomacy, and strategic thinking.
AAIMUN 2026 will remain free to attend. Institute Alterna and the Futures Summit Alliance are committed to keeping high-quality educational programmes accessible to students regardless of geography, school affiliation, or prior experience. Registration is open through MyMUN, with additional participant information and conference preparation materials to follow ahead of the July conference weekend.
This year’s conference will also introduce a more integrated digital experience for delegates, chairs, and conference staff. Further details about the systems supporting AAIMUN 2026 will be shared in a separate announcement.
Registrations for AAIMUN 2026 are now open on MyMUN.
