At Alterna, our mission is to empower Learners all around the globe with accessible, free, and high‑quality computer science curricula, made possible by our team of high-agency remote volunteers.
As a Club Runner, you’ll pilot Alterna’s experimental program to deliver hyper-local, high-impact activities in your local high school. All club runners will receive access to exclusive Alterna activities and opportunities to empower their members with world class curricula, no matter their skill level.
This role will take place in Summer 2026 onwards, with an expected club launch date in late 2026. No prior experience is required to be a Club Runner, although it is a strong plus.
By applying, you certify that you are 1) able to start a computer science themed club in your school six months from now, OR 2) you are currently running a computer science club in your school.
This is an asynchronous-first unpaid volunteering position with extended volunteer benefits.
You'll get to
- Run a computer science in your high school
- Curate a team of high-agency club co-runners to help you run the club
- Promote club member competitiveness by enrolling in regional, national, or international competitions
You'll learn to
- Manage a club serving the specific needs of your members
- Deliver meaningful computer science instruction and acitivites to members in your community
- Collaborate with like-minded peers across timezones and school settings
We seek that you have
- At least 16 years of age
- Current enrollment in a high school
- Obsessive and persistent drive for impact
- Ability to create a computer science club in your school 6 months from now OR currently run one
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
We prefer if you have

- Some background in computer science, data, or related fields
- Comfort and confidence speaking in public or to authority figures
- Ability to thoughtfully integrate AI tools into workflows
- Strong focus on results rather than titles
