At Alterna, our mission is to empower Learners all around the globe with accessible, free, and high‑quality computer science curricula, made possible by our team of high-agency remote volunteers.
As a Deputy Secretary-General, you’ll be a key member of the leadership team in the upcoming Alterna Artificial Intelligence Model United Nations, (AAIMUN) a fully remote MUN conference. You’ll oversee the entire event, ensure smooth operations, and keep the agenda of the conference and its logistics at pace. In addition, you’ll provide support to all AAMUN team members and serve as a point of contact for our partners.
This role will take place in Summer 2026 onwards, with an expected Conference Weekend in June 25 & 26th, 2026. No prior experience in live event operations is required, although it is a strong plus.
This is a remote asynchronous-first unpaid volunteering position.
You'll get to
- Assisting in the planning and execution of all aspects of the conference
- Oversee logitsical agreements such as delegate registration and resource allocation
- Manage and monitor committee sessions and special simulations
- Contribute to the development of study materials and other public-facing documentation
- Represent the secretariat in an official capacity with partners and participants
- Compile post-conference evaluations
You'll learn to

We seek that you have
- At least 16 years of age
- Prior MUN experience as a chair
- Obsessive focus on outcomes
- Solid knowledge of MUN RoPs and the broader UN system
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills
- Strong ability to coordinate multiple small teams under pressure
- Strong ability to anticipate problems and resolve them calmly

- Previous MUN secretariat or senior organisational leadership experience
- Solid familiarity with live event operations
- Background in computer science, AI, or related fields
- High creativity, agency, and emotional intelligence
- Ability to thoughtfully integrate AI tools into workflows
