At Alterna, our mission is to empower Learners all around the globe with accessible, free, and high‑quality computer science curricula, made possible by our team of high-impact remote volunteers. As an Educational Content Creator, you’ll play a key role in building our new On-Demand Learning programme, creating resources Learners can access on their own schedule.
In our AI content branch, you’ll turn complex AI and computer science concepts into clear and engaging learning experiences in the form of videos, guides, and other interactive activities that Learners can return to again and again.
You’ll get to design content that meets Learners where they are by crafting materials with different learning rhythms in mind, and place an emphasis on the way AI is shaping our world.
This is an asynchronous-first unpaid role with extended volunteer benefits.
You'll get to
- Design engaging educational content in the form of videos, guides, blog posts, or other mediums
- Shape Alterna's upcoming AI-centred on-demand content
- Use AI tools as part of a responsible & efficient creative workflow
- Receive creative attibution on your published productions
- Collaborate in an asynchronous remote team environment with clear handoffs and project ownership
You'll learn to
- Apply learning science and instructional design principles in your productions
- Conduct A/B testing with your productions to continuously improve content retention rates
- Build and maintain reusable templates and checklists to ship high-quality lessons at scale
We seek that you have
- At least 16 years of age
- Comprehensive understanding of AI tools and concepts with a strong interest in learning more
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Comfort and confidence speaking in public and recording yourself on audio or video
- Ability to thoughtfully integrate AI tools into your creative and research workflow
- At least 6 months of experience with Canva, Affinity, Illustrator, or any other design tool of your choice
We prefer if you have

- Previous experience with video review tools such as Lawn or Frame.io
- Some background in computer science, data, or related fields
- An excellent taste for visual design and user experience
- Inclination towards a pedagogical or teaching career
